Poem by Doreen Martin

My Dream Journey

September 6th my journey started
From the "Donut Mill" in Red Deer we departed
Our first day we were Saskatchewan bound
And our first night Swift Current we found.
Day Two "Winnipeg" here we came.
You talk about fun, we had some!
"Yakov Smirnoff" was a real hit
I laughed more than just a little bit.
Thunder Bay, Ont. Is slated for Day Number Three
How much better could this be?
"Ontario" meaning "beautiful lakes"
Shows us how much truth a name makes.
Fort William was a highlight today,
Very interesting I must say.
It's day four, what are we going to see?
Mike says we'll stay over in Sault Ste. Marie.
Travelling along Lake Superior's coast
The scenery here is the most!
Tomorrow we'd better be on the bus "Pronto",
You guessed it, we're going to Toronto.
Today we are going to Casa Loma Castle
This afternoon, downtown Toronto, we're going to wrestle.
Day Seven we leave the big city behind
And travel to Gananoque to see what we find
The boat ride here was magnificent
The day was gone, how fast it went!
The Parliament Buildings are on for today
We'll be staying over in Ottawa so they say.
Montreal will be our day number nine
We're now in Quebec, and doing just fine.
"Old Quebec" is a sight to see
Memories of it there will always be.
The longest covered bridge in the world we found
Because today we're in Fredericton, New Brunswick bound.

We enter P.E.I. over the Confederation Bridge
What a spectacular view over the ridge!
Tonight lobster is the special treat
But baked salmon I decided to eat.
Lots of potato fields; grass lush and green
The red sands of Cavendish beach, the nicest I've seen.
We arrive in Nova Scotia on day fourteen
And continue to Cape Breton to see Rita McNeal's dream.
The "Cabot Trail" was a beautiful sight
I have many dreams for many a night.
Dartmouth & Halifax with their beautiful shore
Sail boats, ships & ferries and many more.
Lunenberg and Peggy's Cove were sights to see
No greater places could there ever be.
The Annapolis Valley we will travel today
Seeing farms and orchards along the way.
This afternoon we are New Brunswick bound
It's raining now, no sunshine around.
It's day nineteen and we're off to Maine
We're hoping for sun and not for rain.
Two states we visited today
New Hampshire and Vermont, very colourful along the way.
Norman Rockwell and Erie Canal Museums we did see
This tour has done so very much for me.
Can you imagine, now it is "Niagara Falls"
This is much better than any of the malls!
The "Maid of the Mist" was a real highlight
I held on tight with all my might!
We're now back in Canada for one night
Then off to Windsor for some sights.
We're now in Ohio, another state
The 28th of September is the date.
Today we visit the Amish to see their ways
How they live & fill their days.
Ohio, Indiana, Illinois & Wisconsin today we were in
That just shows you how busy we've been.

Talk about trees, we've seen some
Because its Paul Bunyan's country, we came from.
We'll now continue to Minot, North Dakota
Wouldn't you say we're filling our quota?
We will re-enter Canada today
Going past Estevan, Sask. Along the way.
Our big highlights are over and soon our tour will end
With many a memory and many new friends.
To Mike & Debbie, a big "Thank You"
For making my dream journey come true!

Sincerely,
Doreen Martin
